Every year seems to come and go so quickly and the same can be said for web design trends. At the beginning of 2017, web development was poised for another big year with more designers, more designs, more features, and just more everything. At about the half way point of the year all of those items still ring true. Let’s take a look at some of the trends that we have seen during 2017 in the web design space.
Once again, text is becoming a thing of the past. It is still important to provide great content and text on your website, but great content can be provided in the form of video and images as well. Even human interaction on websites is becoming more and more popular whether it is online chat support or video conferencing with a sales representative.
Video also continues to be a great tool to boost your website’s presence.
2. Things That Move (Animations and GIFs)
GIFs have become extremely popular in today’s communication. Whether it is sending GIFs via text message or Facebook messaging, the idea of communicating with animation is becoming more and more popular. This also goes for website design. Designers are started to use animated features within their site whether it is through characters or just the animation of elements.
3. Content…Still
We probably sound like a broken record, but content is still king when it comes to designing a webpage in 2017. As search engines become smarter and smarter there really is no fooling them anymore. Web designers must provided content that is not only relevant but also engaging and interesting to the reader. Customers are not longer fooled by the gimmicks that might have worked years ago. Providing value through your words or offerings is still a top notch design trend in 2017.
4. Virtual Reality is Here…Well it is 2017
We are not ready to say that robots and A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) are about to take over the world, but it’s close. No, just kidding, but we have seen the use of virtual reality in regards to the selling process. Companies have begun to allows customers and visitors to their website virtual reality tours or product engagement that helps them imagine buying or owning the products. 5. Flat is Boring
Flat web designs are on their way out. The traditional WordPress website build with flat lines and no texture or 3D feel is going by the way side. Intense geometric shapes are being used to give websites depth and creativity. Everyone loves things that pop and now websites are popping even more.
6. Optimize Those Landing Pages
As SEO becomes the new buzz word of the century, so does the desire to create insanely optimized landing pages for those hard to grab keywords. Home pages are becoming less and less popular since searches are becoming so specific and customers are landing on pages other than the home page a majority of the time. It’s even safe to argue that landing pages nested in your website are even more important than your homepage in 2017.
