Robb Fahrion: 0:07: Hello, everyone! This is Robb Fahrion, with The Sage Executive Podcast where top executives and business leaders share their sage advice. It is six questions in nine minutes because the wise speak in few words. We have an incredible guest, someone that we’ve worked closely with at Flying V Group today, so excited to share her story with you. So let’s get right into it. Question number one in a few sentences, would you mind telling us who you are and what it is you do?
Jessica Oslo: 0:37: Yes, of course. So my name is Jess Oslo. I am the Clinical Director and Co-founder of the Vantis Institute here in Newport Beach. And we have a hair loss clinic basically to sum it up briefly but we have a proprietary treatment that we created that basically immediately will reverse the signs of hair loss and give you more density than hair. We treat all different types of hair loss, whether it’s the crown, receding hairline thinning, but it’s been awesome because we don’t have any downtime or any of the stuff that comes along with normal hair transplants.
Robb Fahrion: 1:12: Right. Yeah. And I’ve seen the results and they are they are amazing. I always, I like scrolling through Instagram and always seeing those, those comparisons before and afters. They’re always like holy smokes happened how do they do that. So yeah, just doing great work. Just what would you say is the best thing about being a leader of your own practice and of Vantis Institute?
Jessica Oslo: 1:34: I, you know, I, I definitely like the word leader better than manager, or even director, if you will, because I think leading is just to kind of set the example for the tone and I like helping people reach their potential. And truthfully, you know that my staff is all experts, I’ve worked with him for a long time and we all feed off each other. So I think of leaders more just leading by example and seeing them grow, and just continuing to grow. You know, everyone here is, has to have that moving forward personality.
Robb Fahrion: 2:06: How many? How many people are on the team now as well?
Jessica Oslo: 2:08: Five
Robb Fahrion: 2:09: Five, yeah, I know you guys are growing very quickly.
Jessica Oslo: 2:11: Very quickly.
Robb Fahrion: 2:12: All right, great. Question number three, we’re doing awesome. So we hear a lot of times, especially in your aesthetics field, that just business in general, the competition is so fierce. So just curious what Vantis Institute is doing to differentiate ourselves from competitors and make a name for themselves in the space.
Jessica Oslo: 2:31: Yeah, great question. So, you know, obviously, there’s the surgical and non-surgical so we fall into the non-surgical treatments. The good thing is, is we actually don’t have a lot of competition in this space. You know, for non-surgical, there’s a lot of treatments and therapeutics that are meant to regrow your natural hair. And you’re limited to biology and they’re very time consuming and not predictable. And then there’s SMP but SMP is for bald heads. And you know, which really isn’t our demographic. You know, we do a lot more density people have had hair transplants, they’ll have thiamine. And so the nice thing is we really don’t have a lot of competition, you know, we have a very unique procedure that we had created, you know, because SMP really doesn’t work on the head and when people try it, but the outcome is not good. That’s why they will never zoom in close on it when they do it on people with their, you know, we actually recently in January, we partnered with Dr. Carson Bruns, and he is a Ph.D. Doctor of organic chemistry and he runs a research lab at a Colorado University for nanotechnology. He has a TED talk so you can check out really interesting but he has gone through and really advise us on our pigments, making sure they’re the best quality organic stuff that you know, safe and also effective, and also helped us with air. Really perfecting our protocol and how to handle hair and so that it’s really predictable. We treat blonde redheads, which SMP can’t do. So the fun thing about this is we’ve pulled all the experts on the field and we’ve created a product that actually doesn’t have any competition and has no downtime. So it’s been a fun ride. And that’s part of why we’re expanding so quick. And of course, you know, partnering with top tier professionals like [inaudible], also helps. Thank you for that. We are moving forward quickly.
Robb Fahrion: 4:21: Awesome, awesome. Yeah, I know, I know. You’re doing great work and I, I need to update myself on the technology as well. But I know it’s incredible what they’re doing over at Vantis. So definitely be sure to check out the work they’re doing after this. So just moving forward. Question number four, what piece of sage advice would you give to other business leaders and it could be anything something you’ve heard a quote, just something that others can take away as leaders of their organization and of their businesses.
Jessica Oslo: 4:49: Yeah, so I believe that you should always set your standards high at the very beginning. And that way new members, partners, they kind of adopt that mentality as you grow as a company. And you pretty much universally have this core commitment to perfection. But definitely set the standards as high as possible in the beginning, even if it seems unreasonable, because you’re you’re setting the tone for how your business will run.
Robb Fahrion: 5:12: I love that. I love that. Great question number five, so obviously, we’re trying to fill the pipeline and provide value for our viewers and listeners to this podcast. And as this thing grows, the people we’re able to communicate with is just it’s awesome. So what other business leaders like yourself, would you acknowledge as a leader in their space that you think would be a great guest on our show and provide a lot of value for our viewers?
Jessica Oslo: 5:39: I would have to say Kurt Belcher, so he’s actually one of our partners, but he he does a lot of businesses. He’s been like a mentor for me. And you know, he is someone look up to you a lot as far as taking businesses from the ground up and just launching them super-fast. So I would hands down say Kurt would be a great person for you to interview.
Robb Fahrion: 6:00: Awesome! Okay, we definitely do that I’ll get his contact info after the show. So last question to wrap up and this one’s a fun one and I always like hearing different perspectives. So after a win and then it could be any win business personal related, whatever it may be. What do you like to do to celebrate? What do you like to do? Where do you like to go? Just curious to see what you have to say.
Jessica Oslo: 6:23: Well, if it’s business-related, I actually like it to be with my team because we’re it’s like a family business here. I mean, we’re super close. So if we hit a milestone, we usually will plan like a boat trip somewhere, you know. So get on a boat go out, have a nice dinner. And usually, at that point, you know, once we hit that milestone we’re celebrating we usually like to talk about, just have at least one solid next goal. And that way the next day in the office, we just power through and have something to fight for.
Robb Fahrion: 6:51: Quick memory, right? And join for enjoy for 24 hours and then on to the next one.
Jessica Oslo: 6:56: Yeah, cuz’ I mean each celebration you actually get a little bit bigger and bigger. So it actually does make you a little bit more motivated to get to the next goal.
Robb Fahrion: 7:04: Completely agree, yeah, awesome. Well Jess, Hey, thank you so much for being on we really, really appreciate it. How can people find out more about you and more about Vantis Institute?
