5 AR Marketing Strategies To Expand Your Reach

Reading Time: 7 minutes

How do you stand out in a crowded marketplace? There are lots of ways to reach new customers and get them excited about your brand, but AR marketing strategies are quickly becoming the best way to cut through the noise and create a truly unique experience for your audience.

This technology isn’t just for gaming anymore! With AR marketing, you can create exciting experiences for attendees at trade shows or conferences, give users a more interactive experience with your promotional content, gamify the shopping experience for your customers, and even hold exclusive events that only a select number of people can attend.

Most people are already familiar with the term AR. For those who don’t know yet, let’s just get the definitions out of the way before we get to the nitty-gritty aspects of it.

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that brings virtual things into the real world. It uses technology to enhance the real world by introducing visual digital elements like sound and other forms of stimuli.

With sensors, data from cameras, and maths, it gives an in-depth 3D display of virtual elements, but this time on mobile devices. It extrapolates the position of a virtual object in the real world.

Businesses have adopted this new technology and are using them in various ways to reach their potential customers and create brand awareness.

In this post, we’re going to help you discover creative ways you can implement AR strategies in your business to expand your reach. Let’s start with the fun part of using it in your branding.

1. Gamify Your Branding

Playing games is one of the oldest recreational activities. But what if you could prey on people’s love for games to create a buzz around your brand?

AR makes it easy to add games to your branding and marketing messages.

Gamification is simply the use of game design elements in non-game contexts to engage users and solve problems.

You can use gamification to increase engagement, drive loyalty and increase sales. Games are fun, so they get people more excited about interacting with your brand – which can lead to purchases.

For example. A hotel chain that wanted to increase room bookings can make up a free puzzle game asking players to search for hidden objects (treasure hunt style) throughout each property’s website.

The person who would find all items first would win a prize (a free stay).

This kind of game would reward users for spending time on its site — which could lead them down a path of online browsing that could eventually end with them booking a room at one of the chain’s hotels or buying other products from the online store.

2. Hold Exclusive Events for Your Customers

Events are a great way to give your customers a reason to visit your store and buy your products. But if you’re going to hold an event, why not go the extra mile and make it unique? AR helps you do just that.

Here are some ways that AR can be used during events:

Create an entertaining experience for your customers. You can use AR for entertainment purposes, such as providing them with instructions on how to use products in creative ways.

You can also use it as part of an interactive game or similar activity at the event itself that’ll reward the participants (though remember not everyone may have access).

This will help attract people who may not otherwise have come in but would find these types of experiences fun.

It is important to note that the easier and more beautiful the user interface, the more customers would love to engage with it.  Make it convenient for attendees by making sure they wouldn’t have to need anything else besides their phone or tablet (or eyeglasses!).

If they don’t need any additional equipment or the required tools are available right there at hand, then they won’t feel burdened by bringing anything extra along with them. This might encourage more people to attend than otherwise would have been possible without those things being present beforehand!

You should also ensure that the design is intuitive and easy to navigate. Don’t make it so hard for users to find their way around. It should be so easy that they wouldn’t have to guess or seek technical support before they can use it.

3. Create Virtual Navigation Experiences for Your Customers

AR can help you provide a virtual experience for your customers. Imagine being able to take your customers on a virtual tour of a hotel or retail store before they even step foot in it. This modern trend can highly elevate the guest experience.

We know you already use google maps or any form of a map to find your way around places. But how about finding your way in a large building or a hospital?

AR can help you create virtual maps in your facility to help people easily navigate and interact with your business.

Travel and tour industries can also use various forms of AR to enhance their customer’s experience. For instance, they can develop apps that give tourists a virtual tour or navigation around a tourist attraction site.

Florence Travel Guide has done something similar. On the app, tourists and travelers can simply point their tablet and smartphone to an art museum, church, or a historical building to get real-time information about the history and other relevant information. This makes navigating the city a breeze.

Another virtual experience to give your customers is to show them how the product works without actually having to show them the product at all.

AR can help you make your products feel more real and give visual context for your product’s functionality, features, and any other relevant information about the product. You can also provide a virtual fitting room where customers try on clothes before purchase, or a virtual way to test makeup on your face before making the purchase online (we’ll touch more on that later).

You could even create a fun experience for your brand by creating custom gifting experiences or holding exclusive events for your customers!

4. Create Interactive Content for Your Customers

Customers these days are more interested in finding more information about products and services before they make a purchase. With AR, you can easily turn their information-seeking need into a more interesting experience.

This could be done by turning normal user manuals into AR manuals.

Long online manuals are very difficult for customers to understand whatever is written there, especially for those who are not so tech-savvy. That’s why they often don’t read it at all!

However, that story can be changed.

In the manual, you can include an AR feature where users can just scan with their mobile devices and find all information about assembling, repairing, and even how to use the product, all in 3D format.

This innovative technique would give your customers a memorable experience with your brand and make it easy for them to spread the word about you.

AR is still a new concept to many people. Hence, it has that “wow” factor when a brand incorporates it into its marketing strategy.

You can use interactive content to engage your customers, expand your reach, increase brand awareness, increase customer loyalty, and improve sales.

When used correctly, AR would;

  • engage your customers by offering them valuable information related to the product that they are interested in.
  • increase brand awareness by placing it on top of search engine results pages (SERP).
  • increase brand loyalty by providing discounts and exclusive promotions for those who interact with AR ads or landing pages.
  • Serve as a sales tool. You can ask customers their opinions about the kind of products they want that would best suit their needs before sending them directly offsite into a product purchase funnel.
  • Ensure that you provide the best customer service for your customers.

5. Use AR to Make Shopping More Convenient for Your Customers

Do you know why many people return the products they buy, whether online or offline? In most cases, they either don’t get what they want or probably what they hoped for.

Maybe the nice makeup they saw online turned out to be the wrong shade for their complexion. Or that furniture they bought is too big for their space. Sometimes, customers want to see how a paint shade would look on their wall before they buy it.

AR helps to solve this problem seamlessly.

Home Depot is already using AR to solve the paint and furniture needs of their customers. They released the Project Color mobile App that uses patent technology to show users how paint would look on their walls. It does this by considering the room lighting and existing shadows to give customers a real-world view.

That’s not all. The app also helps you to test furniture before you buy it. You can test the position, and the size, and even analyze how it’ll match the room’s painting or the rug you’ll put it on.

This makes it easy to choose the right furniture and paint before you even buy.

Another brand using AR strategies to enhance shopping is Timberland. Instead of the accepted and normal changing rooms, they have created a virtual fitting room that allows shoppers to try digital versions of clothes on before buying them.

Their customers don’t have to go through changing rooms stress anymore. This interactive and fun experience makes them the convenient and favorite place of many shoppers

AR, when used correctly, can help you sell more products, improve customer service, reduce product returns and operational costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

AR is a great way to help your business grow in 2022. The market for AR is USD 14.7 billion in 2020, and it is expected to reach USD 88.4 billion by 2026.

Marketers who start using AR now will have a strong advantage over those who wait later to jump on board with this technology. Use cases are definitely going to double in the next two years, so if you don’t start using them soon, your competition will leave you behind!

AR Can Help You Reach Your Customers in a New Way

Using augmented reality to expand your marketing reach can help you reach new customers and keep the ones you already have. By using AR, you can expand your marketing reach by sending personalized content directly to a customer’s phone. This kind of personalization is a great way to connect with customers and drive sales.

Augment is a platform that helps small businesses add various 3D effects (AR) to their business and brand. You can visit their website at your convenience to see which of their products would best suit your business needs.

The technology has also become much more affordable for small businesses in recent years, making it easier for them to use AR in their marketing strategies without having to spend too much money on specialized equipment or software. In fact, some major retailers are even using this technology today!

Conclusion

These five strategies are just the tip of the iceberg. You can do so much more with AR to make your marketing more appealing, accessible, and convenient for your customers. We hope we’ve given you a taste of what’s possible—and what’s coming soon to your business.
